Founder and Producer of The Sound Choice Dj Productions, Jabala has become the most sought after career dj in the west. Indigenous from the Secwepemc tribe in Shuswap Lake area, BC, Canada, she has mentored several local youth on their journey to becoming talented mixers, producers, mc's and dj's.
Along her journey she has adopted many pet names in her role as a dj. The name that stuck is Dj Balla!
In 2003 she was honored as the first indigenous woman to take 1st place in the SHUSWAP WOMAN IN BUSINESS AWARDS, where they also asked her to "guest dj" at their banquet to display her talent in her home town.
Quickly she became the "go-to" provider for elite musicians from around the globe, who utilized her services as a talent booking agent. Jabala has helped coordinate many festivals, fundraisers, and community events.
Being previous owner of LIVEWIRE NIGHT CLUB from 2004-2007, she earned a reputation as a sophisticated, elegant woman who holds a strong presence among many crowds. Her vast business and social skills were quickly utilized by the neighboring bar, which happened to be LIVEWIRE'S main competitor in the same city! She became the resident dj at JIGGERS PUB, and was later hired by another competitor OLD DOG BREW PUB where she worked the crowd as a host dj, but was also contracted to completely redesign the pub, stage, dj booth and dance floor! Very soon after, many of the local dj's were seeking employment with Jabala and she elevated the general skill level of turntablism arts in the area.
In 2007 Jabala's fresh new twist on 'music trivia' helped her establish a unique and successful interactive bar game, which became the most "in demand" pub game in BC. Offering great incentives to players with cash prize giveaways made Music Trivia Challenge a premium booking service, where her business was hosting games up to 4 days per week, simultaneously, in 3 different locations!
Over the years Jabala has works tirelessly to raise awareness on issues such as Murdered and Missing Indigenous Woman, Cancer, Autism, and she worked with many grassroots projects on water and land preservation projects.
Establishing her company The Sound Choice Dj Productions came very naturally, and has provided elite dj services, as well as technical sound and lighting services since 2000. Holding the largest up-to-date subscription library in western canada, Jabala's company has music dated from 1930's to current, across all genres. The company is AVLA licensed and carries music from Canada's largest suppliers of copyright music. The company has limitless special effects and lighting capabilities and is the leader in Music Video Dance Parties across BC, and ALBERTA, CANADA!
